Villas break in funny little ways. A wardrobe hinge here, a drippy outdoor tap there, a doorbell that dies right before the Eid guests show up. This post collects the handymen TAG neighbors keep recommending in the WhatsApp groups, plus a few things worth knowing before signing your first AMC.
Neighbor's Tip — Who to call for what
- Single broken thing today: Service On Call or We Will Fix It
- Annual peace of mind on a 4-bed: Fixperts or Innovo Technical Services AMC
- Smart switches, doorbells, automation tweaks: Justcare
- Fridge, oven, washer, or dishwasher acting up: Buashwan
- Painting touch-ups before a viewing: Innovo or Fixperts day rate
If you're still mapping out the basics, our all home services in Tilal Al Ghaf guide is the parent post, and the Tilal Al Ghaf community guide is handy if you've just moved in.
Here's the honest version. An Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) is a flat yearly fee that covers a set list of trades, usually electrical, carpentry, painting touch-ups, minor plumbing, and a fixed number of preventive visits. A one-off call is exactly what it sounds like, you pay a call-out fee plus labour and parts.
If you live in a 3-bed in Elan and rarely break things, one-off is cheaper. If you've got a 5-bed in Harmony with kids, a pool deck, and three bathrooms with quirky fittings, an AMC tends to pay for itself within a few months.
What You'll Pay
- Call-out fee: AED 100-150 (often waived if work goes ahead)
- Hourly handyman rate: AED 80-150/hr
- AMC, 2-3 bedroom villa: AED 2,500-4,000/yr
- AMC, 4-5 bedroom villa: AED 4,500-7,500/yr
- Appliance repair visit: AED 250-650 plus parts
Service On Call is a name that comes up often when new neighbors ask. They're a general maintenance and handyman outfit, and the appeal is single-call dispatch — you WhatsApp the issue, they give you a window, and someone shows up in that window.
They're best for one-off jobs: a stuck sliding door, a leaking outdoor tap, a ceiling light that flickers. Call-out hovers around AED 120, and a basic visit with an hour of labour usually lands at AED 200-300 all-in. They'll also quote AMCs, but their sweet spot is the same-week fix.
Innovo Technical Services is one of those names you keep hearing at the school gate and in TAG WhatsApp groups. They cover most maintenance trades under one roof, which is why so many TAG households put them on retainer. Painting, electrical, light plumbing, carpentry, they handle it.
Their AMC is where they shine. Expect AED 3,500-6,500/yr depending on bedroom count, with two scheduled preventive visits and unlimited call-outs for covered items. One-off rates are middle of the pack, around AED 130 call-out and AED 100-130/hr.
Fixperts actually has a Tilal Al Ghaf-specific page on their site, which tells you something about how often they're out here. They're an all-in-one home maintenance and repair company, and they're aggressive on AMC bundling. If you ask, they'll roll AC servicing, deep cleaning, and pest control into one yearly fee.
For a 4-bed villa in Harmony, expect their standard AMC around AED 4,500-5,500/yr, or AED 6,500-7,500/yr with the everything-included bundle. One-offs start at AED 150 call-out. They take card, which is a small but real win.
We Will Fix It comes up a lot for one reason: they answer on Saturdays. Neighbors report Saturday-morning dispatches within about 90 minutes for things like a tripped main breaker or a wardrobe door off its rails.
They're a Dubai-wide handyman crew, not TAG-exclusive, but they cover the community well. One-off pricing is fair, AED 100 call-out and AED 90-130/hr. AMCs run AED 2,800-5,500/yr depending on inclusions. Their multi-trade lads handle 80% of villa issues without needing a second visit.
Justcare is the one neighbors mention when the issue isn't really a "fix", it's an "upgrade". They do full-service home maintenance, but their niche is smart home — switches, doorbells, sensors, automated curtains, the lot. If your villa came with a half-finished smart setup from the developer, they'll finish it properly.
Their general handyman rates are in line with the market, AED 100-130 call-out, AED 100-150/hr. Smart home installs are quoted by job, usually AED 400-1,200 for a few switch swaps and the app config. AMCs available but not their strongest pitch.
A small but important note: Buashwan isn't a full handyman. They're appliance specialists — fridges, ovens, washers, dishwashers — and they're who neighbors call when the freezer dies the day before a dinner party.
Visits start at AED 250 for diagnostic plus minor work, and most repairs land between AED 350-650 plus parts. They source genuine spares for major brands. Don't call them for a leaking shower, do call them when the tumble dryer starts singing.
Every contract is a little different, but here's what typically shows up as standard inclusions. Read the fine print before you sign, especially around AC and parts.
| Line item | Usually included | Typical AED range (annual) |
|---|---|---|
| Electrical, sockets, switches, breakers | Yes | Bundled |
| Plumbing, minor leaks, taps, traps | Yes (minor only) | Bundled |
| Carpentry, hinges, handles, sliding tracks | Yes | Bundled |
| Painting touch-ups, internal | Yes (limited m²) | Bundled |
| AC servicing | Sometimes (add-on) | +AED 600-1,500 |
| Pest control | Sometimes (add-on) | +AED 400-900 |
| Major plumbing, leak detection | Usually excluded | Quoted separately |
| Appliance repair | Almost never | Quoted separately |
| Number of preventive visits | 2-4 per year | Bundled |
| Emergency call-outs (covered items) | Unlimited | Bundled |
Good to Know If your AMC quote includes AC, double-check it covers coil cleaning, not just filter swaps. We've covered the difference in the AC cleaning and maintenance post. Major leaks and drainage usually fall outside AMC scope, so keep a plumbing and leak detection number saved separately. Same goes for carpentry and interior fittings when you want a full rebuild rather than a hinge fix.
Quick checklist worth running before you hand anyone your gate code:
For a 4-bedroom villa in Harmony, expect AED 4,500-5,500/yr for a standard AMC covering electrical, carpentry, light plumbing, painting touch-ups, and 2-3 preventive visits. Bundles that add AC servicing and pest control push it to AED 6,500-7,500/yr. Anything under AED 3,500 for a 4-bed is probably missing inclusions, read the contract carefully.
Usually, yes. Most general handyman AMCs include light AC checks but not full coil cleaning, gas top-ups, or duct work. A dedicated AC AMC runs AED 600-1,500/yr on top, and it's worth it in Dubai's summer. We've broken this down properly in our AC maintenance guide for TAG.
For a same-day leak, Service On Call and We Will Fix It typically dispatch within 2-4 hours during weekdays. Saturday response is often closer to 90 minutes to 3 hours. If your AMC is active with Innovo or Fixperts, you usually jump the queue. For active major leaks, shut off the main and call straight away, don't WhatsApp.
Most TAG handymen run a weekend rota with at least a skeleton crew. We Will Fix It and Service On Call come up most often for Saturday call-outs. Expect a small after-hours surcharge of AED 50-100 on top of the standard call-out fee. Friday afternoons can be slower, book before 2pm if you can.
Two numbers in your phone, one for general handyman work and one for appliances, will save you most of the year-one villa pain. If you're staying long-term in a bigger villa, an AMC with Innovo or Fixperts is genuinely worth the line on your budget. For everything else, Service On Call and We Will Fix It are the workhorses, Justcare is the smart-home upgrade, and Buashwan is the specialist you call before you give up on an appliance.
